Craft Brewery Tuatara Subject of a Case Study 12 march 2012
The secrets of success against much larger competitors, is the subject of the third case study published by the organisers of the Kapiti Horowhenua Business Awards.
Winner of last year's Electra Business of the Year award, Tuatara Brewery of Reikorangi in Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast, is relatively new, is in rapid growth mode and operates in an evolving and increasingly sophisticated sector where consistency and quality are paramount.

Craft Brewery is Kapiti Horowhenua Electra Business of the Year 4 November 2011
The 2011 Electra Business of the Year for Kapiti and Horowhenua is Tuatara Brewery of Waikanae.
The annual awards were announced at a dinner event in the Southward Theatre, Paraparaumu on Friday 4th November.
After many years dominated by two breweries in New Zealand, a craft beer revolution started – and one of those breweries, named Tuatara, began as a backyard operation in the Tararua Mountain Range above Waikanae. The company was founded by Carl Vasta, an engineer with the taste buds of a wine critic. Carl made beer that is described as uncompromising, good and full of flavour. Not only is the beer available across New Zealand but the company also exports it.

Three Admitted to Business Hall of Fame 4 November 2011
A highly successful Horowhenua farmer and two founding fathers of the Kapiti District, all with strong community and charitable focus, have been added to the Kapiti Horowhenua Business Hall of Fame.
At a dinner presentation in Paraparaumu on Friday 4th November, Collis Blake, Barry Hadfield and John "Jack" Leslie were inducted into the Hall of Fame, bringing the total of laureates now honoured that way to ten.

The 2011 Electra Business of the Year for Kapiti and Horowhenua will be announced at a gala dinner this Friday. 2 November 2011
296 people have registered to attend the function being held in the Southwards theatre.
As well as the status and pride that goes with the title, Event Manager Kirsten Kilmister says "that the Electra Business of the Year winner can look forward to receiving prizes from Air New Zealand, the Whitireia Small Business Development programme, advertising from both BeachFM and the Kapiti Observer/Horowhenua Mail as well as Ohau Gravels wine and a complimentary membership to Nature Coast Enterprise."

Local produce on Awards Dinner Table 20 October 2011
Products of the Kapiti-Horowhenua region are to be featured at this year's regional annual Electra Business Awards presentation dinner.
Awards organiser, Kirsten Kilmister of Scopevents, says with such wonderful products produced within the region, it is most appropriate to feature some. Products from Genoese Pestos, Kapiti Artisan Breads, Kapiti Olive Oil, Ohau Gravels Wine, Sopranos Limoncello, Tuatara Brewery and Turk's chicken have all been built into the menu.

Business Awards Entries Now Being Assessed Thursday 4 August 2011
The assessor team for Electra Kapiti Horowhenua Business Awards has just begun the month-long task of considering all entries in this year's contest.
This year's assessors are Graham Smellie and Mark Ternent.
Graham Smellie is a business mentor with strong commercial skills in management, strategic planning, marketing, innovation and partnerships. His background includes textiles and the marketing/protection of crop and food research. He holds a Life Fellowship with the New Zealand Institute of Management and is presently Chair of Nature Coast Enterprise.
Mark Ternent is a well awarded and recognised business coach with a background as a high flying naval officer in supply chain/support, leadership, management and training. Formerly a member of the national panel of evaluators for the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation, he is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and presently Chair of the Kapiti Chamber of Commerce.

Business Awards Attracting Much Attention
At the halfway stage in the entry process, interest in this year's Electra Kapiti Horowhenua Business Awards is strong.
Awards organiser Kirsten Kilmister, says "it's great to see so much interest from those who have never entered before."
Some of the previous category winners are planning to enter again, following the lead of others who have re-entered to test the improvements they made and strive for the Business of the Year title.

Air New Zealand Joins Business Awards Supporters Thursday 30 May 2011
Coinciding with its new direct Kapiti-Auckland flights, Air New Zealand has joined the list of businesses sponsoring a category in this year's Kapiti Horowhenua Electra Business Awards.
The airline begins flying the route on Labour Day, 24 October and the Air NZ Customer Service Award will be presented eleven days later at the business awards' gala dinner at Southward Theatre on Friday 4 November.

Aura Software Security Ltd won the 2010 Electra Kapiti Horowhenua Business of the Year accolade and as a result has allowed its approach and responses to growth to be revealed in a professionally compiled case study to assist other businesses.

Three key business people have been admitted to the Nature Coast Business Hall of Fame for Kapiti and Horowhenua.
They are Selwyn Hyde, Jacob Slykhuis and John Turk.
This brings the total of inductees to the hall to seven.

Case Study Reveals A Winning Road

Award Winners To Share Knowledge Thursday 6 May 2010
Previous winners of the Electra Business Awards for Kapiti and Horowhenua are to share their knowledge and experiences with people considering entering this year.
Two information evenings will be held this month, in Levin on Wednesday 12th May and in Paraparaumu on Tuesday 25th May. Both will run for an hour from 5.30pm and be held in the BNZ premises.
