Award Night Photos

300 guests attended the 2009 Electra Business Awards function at Southward Car Museum on Tuesday 10 November.

The foyer was buzzing for the pre-function drinks as guests enjoyed an Apple Martini on arrival and tried to find their comrades as part of the James Bond themed networking icebreaker.  A number of guests really got into the theme and wore costumes, while others went for the sophisticated and stylish 'dress to impress' Bond look.  Hopefully you'll be able to find yourself (or someone you know) in the photos!

Having had drinks and nibbles, guests then received some RJ's licorice and eagerly moved into the auditorium for the main event - to find out who the winners would be!

James Bond (Mark Fergusson) arrived on stage in a white Aston Martin with a gorgeous blond and a number of other attractive dancers (whom you can see in the photos).

The awards then proceeded with a special presentation being made to Vera, Lady Southward in honour of Sir Len Southward's contribution to business life on the Nature Coast.  This was followed by two Hall of Fame presentations, presented by the Mayor of Kapiti, Jeny Rowan and Mayor of Horowhenua, Brendan Duffy.  The first to David Pritchard of the Pritchard Group and the second to Roger Halliwell of RJ's Licorice.

The category finalists and winners were announced - check out the photos of the proud winners with their category sponsors.  Thank you again to the sponsors for their fantastic support - and congratulations again to the winners!!

Some mid-function entertainment with a James Bond quiz and theatre sport action was hilarious - who would have thought people would become so extroverted once they're up on stage!!

The excellence awards (Small Business of the Year and Emerging Business of the Year) were presented and then Colbert Cooper were announced as the runner up for the Business of the Year Award.  This doesn't normally happen, but the final decision had been so close this year that the judges wanted to make a special presentation to recognise Colbert Cooper.

John Yeoman, CEO of Electra announced the 2009 Electra Business of the Year - Turk's Poulty Farm, Foxton.

Congratulations to Turk's.  The judges said “Turk's exemplifies best practice across all levels.  With its balanced approach to the different qualities of its business it scored high on a number of criteria, they are deserving winners of the overall award.”
